A letter to my Standless Clan.

Image
Dear member of Standless Clan, Made up of stars, dust, light, little bit of you and little bit of me. If I try my best to describe you in words then I might fail. But like you said words are all we have. Henceforth, I will try my best to describe you in words. But I have no idea where to begin. From that evening you tried Blinding lights in your car or from that evening I tried Julia by Jeremy Jucker in my ears? Let's keep aside both the evenings and start what I have now. Right now I have words and a blog to write them down, credit of which goes to the member of standless clan. What if I say, you are the most amazing human I have ever met in my life? Will you believe it? You consider yourself diamond and diamond is the most glittering substance present in this universe. Even stars glitter but during rainy nights and in pollution we can't see them clearly. But diamond is also the most hardest material on earth and which makes it sometime impossible to get into your head. The wa...

Far away from home.

19th February 2021, after reading first six chapters of "Thee Beekeeper of Allepo" by Chresti Lefteri, I decided to write upon reffuge crisis faced all over the world. The book is about the Syrian war which has displaced over six million people from their native lands. The book is a work of fiction based on author's own experience in Athens at a refugee center. This book has been recommended to me by a friend two days ago. While reading first four chapters I noticed that this story has been revolving around me since I was a child. The year 1971 is one of the most remarkable year of my life. The Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 was a military confrontation between India and Pakistan that disturbed many lives. The turning cart of my future life was in the hand of my grandparents. Thousands of people left their homes for the shelter in nearby villages, towns. My grandparents were one of them.       History of mankind illustrates that all groups of people from various races are...

Wedding Crashers - Bin bulaaye baraati.

Image
One of the most well defined tradition of Indian society is "mehmaan - namaazi" which means paying guests. But what if those "mehmaans" (guests) are "bin bulaaye baarati" (uninvited wedding guests)? Indian weddings have their own aura of huge celebrations, free food (not logically) and complimentary drinks. It's a get together of family elders, cousin brothers, uncle, aunties, people of every age groups mostly. Especially the north-Indian weddings are a festival in themselves. Waiters wandering around with snacks in their trays, kids craving for ice cream or "Gol gappas" mostly, teenagers rocking the dance floor, uncle and aunties waiting for those shy invitations on dance floors, while people like us (writer and his friend) waiting for "Dhakkan open ceremony" ( waiting for stalls to start serving). Winters in Jammu are always nostalgic for me when it come to weddings. The sound of "Shehnai" (clarinet) is enough to alarm o...

Sweet Disposition - Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye

Image
Indian society believes sweet beginings should begin with eating something sweet. Cadbury chocolate advertisements are living proof of this theory. The chocolate ads which we used to watch on television with celebrities saying "Kuch meetha ho jaaye" (let's have something sweet). Who knew that many of us were going to take it seriously. While sitting inside the cubicle of my mind, the Scholar in me questions about why I do what I do? The left side of my brain suggests "Kuch meetha khaa aur chill maar" (have something sweet and relax). The right side took a stand and started searching for the words. The only words running in right side were "kuch meetha toh banta hai" ( some sweetness is compulsory). Then Scholar invokes the scientist inside of me. The scientist whom I have left somewhere on Mosely Periodic tables, trying to learn the properties of elements are a periodic functions of their elements. The scientist answers firmly that something sweet in t...

Choose - e - Zindagi

Image
Choose - e - Zindagi is all about making the choices in life. The choices that take you somewhere you belong or somewhere you don't. Once a friend of mine was getting into somewhere where robots used to work. The robots were designed to perform a particular task assigned to them by their owners. The friend of mine was a new to this space. He was not sure about his existence there. He keep calling me for help but I had covered myself with the masquerade of society, responsibilities, money and materialistic desires. I used to call him "apna hero" which means my hero. Apna hero used to see world with different eyes. Sometimes I used to find his ideas vague and full of rotten ideas. The world doesn't work this way. The world has societies, rules, law makers. Everything is so well organized. Apna hero knew nothing. I started hating him when I was 25. We did everything together, cherished every moment together, climbed every difficulty together. But now Apna hero was going ...
